Food for Today's Thoughts on Labor Day Monday, September 13, 2011

Juicing

I am in the second phase of my health and raw foods lifestyle for fitness and weightloss.

I bought the juiceman and have been exploring juices as part of the juice fast I am in right now.

I like this machine and more about that another time. [picture by phyllis tariello]
here's a recipe I like: 2 bunches green beans from farmer's market, 1 and 1/2 cantelopes, 1 orange....delicious!
see picture below, I hope :-)

Food for Today's Thoughts on Saturday, August 27, 2011

It's raining today and we are batting down the hatches for hurricane Irene.

I think eating my raw foods went well today.

I look forward to continuing the process.

I really enjoyed my tangelos the most...though the watermelon breakfast may be my favorite yet!

I'll add pictures later. But I wanted to say how blessed it is to have good friends, and a partner during times like these. To change is to be Life, and that's what I want. Thanks to friends and partner, dogs and cats, living green trees and rain. May it be safely so for those in the path of the Hurricane.

Food for Today's Thoughts on Thursday, August 25, 2011

Had a great day today.
Work went well. Then I had some help and great friend support to terminate a professional relationship. It went well and there was a good meeting of the minds. I feel strong from that experience~~! Then came home and made salad for my partner and a delicious green/Ginger smoothie for me; I really liked it. Here's tonights recipe:
1 head of Romaine Lettuce
1 1/2 big organic carrots
2 green apples
my supplements including spirulina and green magma
2 succulent chunks of fresh Ginger
1/2 cup filtered water
It was spicy and filling and ....fed me body, mind, spirit. I hope to take pictures of the process another time!
Thanks for tuning in.

Food for Today's Thoughts, Tuesday August 23, 2011

Today

woke up , drank my lemon water and had a nice walk thru the neighborhood with Phyllis.
Enjoyed the crisp air. It's getting colder now as Fall considers it's options.
Busy work day. Had my green drink with supplements at around 10am. This was pretty good and helped
me to be focused and energized. Though I"m missing my mid morning walk. I really like that. The longer
I sit, the more I want to be out and about. It's long sometimes in the office and isolating. But Phyllis came up for lunch. I bought her a sub next door and ate my salad that I brought from home. Had my water a few hours later.
Then I went to the gym. I worked out at the Best Fitness in Albany this time. I like it there a lot. There seems to be more equipment or something. Plus there is a healthy mix of men and women. This is nice.
I ran into a female body builder. Her muscular back looked terrific. I thought, I'd like to work towards a back like that one day. Her overall form was chiseled. I wanted to speak to her but...didn't this time.
I bought a cool book on raw food recipes that I hope to use some time after my detox period. Probably not till like October or something, depending on when I feel ready. But there were some super cool recipes in that book and an excellent diagram on sprouting. I"m not much for using the scanner. I have to ask someone
in the family who's better at this to help me. I would also try to contact the writer to see if she minds if I duplicate. But I loved the diagrams. They're interesting and simply drawn. I think it would be super cool to turn my spare room into a meditation center/herb and sprout garden for Fall and Winter. I have to ask my co-worker Bernie about his growth lights.

There's something fairly exciting to think about growing my own foods with my own hands.

Well that's it for now; have a good night all.

Food for Today's Thoughts, Monday August 22, 2011

Food.
There's so much of it around.
Some of it's great to taste and some terrible.
Some that's good to eat isn't good for much of anyone.
Some people seem able to eat these things in small or large amounts and
remain fairly healthy. For me this is a mystery. I find that this way of eating, which is about 85% raw foods makes me feel pretty good. Sometimes I miss certain foods from my heritage. I don't think it makes sense to add these things at this time, but I come close with certain visitations of ways to make them in raw form.

I have an idea for grinding my own mustard seeds; this food may be used for a home made dressing at some point. Home made salad dressings are my next explorations. Though mostly I just squeeze 1/2 orange over my food/salad or do with out all together.

It's a process to release all of the body's toxins and visit what does food mean to me and the foods I leave behind, 95% will stay behind. Others will find some form or way to be part of my life. But for now, I need to release them to allow new ways of thinking, being and doing to come into my process.
This includes sprouting.

I want to grow sprouts from lentils and other beans; to try to taste to see....and I want to grow herbs in my own home. Wait till I finish my room. I have emptied it perhaps for this purpose, to get a fall/winter start up garden so I can grow some of my own food during the long winter months....hmmm....thinking about this and more.

I had a shorter session with Mark on the phone but it was a help. I'm glad we have these phone meetings as ideas like these get the chance to...sprout! get it? LOL

have a good evening one and all :-)
